Exam Preparation

Published on 3 September 2025 at 20:41

Today is the day. The exam is here. What can you do now to make sure you are ready? You've got your revision, you've got your flow-state ready to go... but there is one last brick to go. Not to worry, this final page is going to guide you right to the door!

Timetable:

To do the exam, you need to know where and when it is. Usually, you will be given an exam timetable to follow which comes with your name, seat number, the date and time of the exam and the subject you are sitting. If you are unsure, ask an invigilator, teacher or fellow student. Make sure you remember what you have and when, do not lose it and be sure to keep it safe.

Equipment:

With your timetable, you will know what subject you are sitting. With that, you will be able to deduce what equipment you will need to bring in with you. Do not assume materials will be provided for you unless it is specifically stated before the exam. Sometimes the equipment you forgot will also be the equipment the exam hall does not have, and will be what you need most. After all the hard work revising and learning before the exam, to let your grade be brought down because you forgot a pen is not ideal. This is meant to be your time to shine and show what you are capable of!

Invigilators:

It is very common that people are nervous around invigilators, or assume that they're strict. But it is important to move these feelings aside and ask for any help you may need. Obviously they cannot help you answer the question, but if you have specific needs which they can help you with, do feel free to ask. Many people put themselves into unnecessary bother because they were nervous to put their hand up and ask. Remember, the whole idea is to stay calm and comfortable!

You:

At the end of the day, this is all about you. This is YOUR exam. YOUR future. YOUR potential. Do not let someone discourage you because they barely did any revision, or lure you into a false sense of security by saying the paper is easy. Take care of yourself. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, hydration, hygiene, everything in between. Take care of yourself! You can't work well on a paper if you cannot work with your body. A healthy mind is a happy mind. Block out the sound if you need to. Ignore what people say. Focus on what you have done, what you have learned, and show the examiner what you CAN do!
